I have been interested in nature for most of my life, but developed a keen interest in birding during a college biology class in 1998. My primary interest is the status and distribution of birds in southern California, and I feel confident identifying most birds in the United States and Canada. I am currently the secretary for the California Bird Records Committee (2015-present) and am an eBird reviewer for three counties in southern California. My secondary interests are amphibians, reptiles, mammals, and odonates (my level of expertise varies widely in those areas), but I'm usually happy to look at or photograph anything that doesn't require a magnifying glass to see or identify.
