Observed during a dedicated research trip. Accompanied group of fishermen for one full day including several sets of a beach seine. Site is at the mouth of the Saloum Delta, on a shallow (0-2 m) area formed by tidal sandbars separating the mangrove estuary from the open ocean.

Even though the water is turbid, the long snout and prominent cheek spines indicate that it is not <i>H. hippocampus</i>, the other species predominant in Gambia and Senegal. Thanks for posting.
