Project Seahorse

Project Seahorse is a marine conservation group committed to the conservation and sustainable use of the world’s coastal marine ecosystems. Our work has been recognized with many international awards and honours, including the Rolex Award for Enterprise and the Whitley Award in Animal Conservation.

University of British Columbia

The University of British Columbia's Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries hosts most of Project Seahorse's international team. Project Seahorse director Dr. Amanda Vincent is a UBC faculty member.


The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) hosts Project Seahorse's UK team. Dr. Heather Koldewey, Project Seahorse's co-founder and manager of field programs, is head of global programmes at ZSL.

Shedd Aquarium

The John G. Shedd Aquarium, a nonprofit organization dedicated to public education and conservation, is among one of the world’s largest indoor aquariums. A longtime supporter and partner of Project Seahorse, Shedd currently works with them in Southeast Asia to build local capacity for monitoring and managing seahorse
